Marvel fans were shocked after seeing Chris Evans return as Captain America in this jaw-dropping MCU concept poster for a Disney Plus original series.
Chris Evans has portrayed the Steve Rogers/Captain America character in seven films (not including cameos) beginning in 2011. Captain America: The First Avenger. And although fans didn’t know it at the time, Evans’ last appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, at least for now, was in 2019. Avengers: Endgame.
Although Avengers: Endgame seemed to officially end Steve Rogers’ story and role as part of the Avengers team, fans have long theorized about a possible Evans return since the time the End of Game the credits have finished rolling.

One idea that has been floated by many fans is the idea of Evans returning as Captain America in a project exploring how exactly he returned the Infinity Stones to their correct timeline before returning in the final arc of Avengers: Endgame. And thanks to incredible concept art from a digital artist, we get to see Evans back in action as Captain America in a project that could be the perfect addition to Marvel’s Disney Plus lineup.

Envisioning a return for Marvel’s first Avenger, artist spideyvegas took to Instagram to share an incredible poster envisioning Evans’ return as Captain America in his own Disney Plus original series.
Against the backdrop of Vormir, home to the Soul Stone, Evans dons his iconic Captain America costume, his shield strapped to his back with the case containing the time-snatched Infinity Stones. Because no poster is complete without an official title, the artist combines the concept with the title “Captain America: Man Out of Time” in a font inspired by previous Captain America films.
Will Chris Evans return as Captain America in the MCU?
Although it’s only been a few years since Evans last appeared in the MCU and hung up Cap’s shield, fans are hungry for more Evans and Steve Rogers in the MCU.
Given how his story ended, it’s unlikely we’ll see Evans back in action in any current-era MCU movies, but a prequel project such as a Disney Plus series would be an incredible way to bring back the character for one last time. adventure.
A Disney Plus series telling the story of Steve’s time travel to bring the Infinity Stones back to their rightful timeline would be an amazing way to give fans one last chance to see Evans dress up as Cap once again. Plus, think of all the memorable moments and funny cameos the show could provide as Steve travels back in time turning over the stones before finally returning to Peggy and starting their life together!
While fans have made it clear they’d like to see a Disney Plus series centered around Evans’ Captain America in a series designed to fill in the gaps between when Cap leaves to put the Infinity Stones back in the timeline, the chances of the series becoming a reality remain unclear.
Evans seemed to make his days clear as Steve Rogers/Captain America was officially behind him and he had no intention of retrieving Cap’s shield during filming. Avengers: Endgame ended.
“Officially packed the avengers 4. It was a day full of emotions, to say the least. Playing this role for the past eight years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful,” Evans wrote after wrapping production on Avengers: Endgame, in a farewell message to the character.
There have been conflicting reports, however, as last year Deadline reported that Evans was in the process of closing a deal to return for “at least one Marvel property, with the door open for a second movie.” Reports at the time suggested the return would not be for a new Captain America movie, but rather in a capacity similar to Robert Downey Jr.’s role in Spider-Man: Homecoming.
Fast forward to today and Evans’ return to the MCU has yet to happen, but Marvel has taught us to never say never. Who knows, maybe he’ll even surprise us and follow this joke back to the MCU via the Fantastic Four project.
